Over the last year or so I have been really trying to eliminate chemicals from my skincare, haircare, and beauty routine. For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with monthly breakouts and hyper pigmentation. I used to think that the more expensive the products were, the better they were at managing my skin concerns - but I am now finding that my skin reacts better with natural products.

Harsh chemicals in skincare products can disrupt your skins natural ph levels which can cause an increased growth in bacteria and can even cause premature aging. Since I tried switching my usual toner out for organic apple cider vinegar, I have been loving the results! Raw ACV balances the skins natural ph. It's antibacterial properties removes excess oil, exfoliates away dead skin cells on the surface, and can lighten dark spots and hyper pigmentation. Best yet, it costs mere dollars at the grocery store, is incredibly easy to make at home and will last you a long time. Apple cider vinegar is such an amazing product and chances are you might even have it already in your pantry.

To DIY your own ACV facial toner, you will need:

- a spray bottle

- organic raw apple cider vinegar (with the mother)

- water

For sensitive skin, start by mixing one part vinegar and diluting with three parts water. For normal or combination skin, you can use equal parts ACV and water. For oily skin, you can use either equal parts vinegar and water or you can increase the ratio of ACV. Just remember to test on a small part of your skin before applying to your face.

To use the solution for best results; spray the mixture on a cotton pad and apply to the skin after cleansing. Just a warning, you WILL smell like a french fry. If you find that you can't stand the smell, feel free to go ahead and add a few drops of essential oil, for example lavender. Follow with moisturizer and then you're set to go!

I'd love to hear your experience using apple cider vinegar as a facial toner. Let me know below!
